About us

The "Golden Reelers" (or "Reelers") are a group of people who live in and around Landshut (left) and are committed to Scottish Country Dancing. It all started in 2006 when Robert Dawson from Portknockie near Elgin (right) in Scotland, who is a member of Elgin-Landshut-Twintown-Association, devised a dance commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Elgin-Landshut twinning.

This "ELTA Golden Reel" was presented to the Landshuters who in turn then learned and presented the dance in 2007. The group wouldn't dissolve and is still meeting monthly to dance Scottish country dances. The aim is not perfection but fun and joy for the old and the young. The group is open to everyone and always happy to welcome new dancers.
